Summary: |
Constable David Perry from the Orillia Detachment, drowned along with 4 fellow officers who also drowned when their vessel sank in Lake Simcoe, Ontario.
Constable Glen Farough also of the Orillia Detachment. Corporal Herbert Smart, Constable Maurice Melnychuk, and Constable George Ransom of Divisional Headquarters in Toronto.
It is known that there was a severe electrical storm in the area that caused several boating related fatalities that weekend.
Their boat was a 14 foot RCMP outboard with a 35 horsepower engine.
