Officer Dursee was shot and killed while pursuing three men who had just robbed a shoe store on Third Avenue. He was able to return fire and wound one of the suspects. All three were apprehended a short time later.
The gunman was convicted of second degree murder on October 30, 1928.
Officer Dursee was assigned to the 8th Precinct. He was survived by his wife.
