Bio: A graduate of Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, Illinois, Casey played minor league baseball with the Atlanta Braves organization. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in 2002 and he joined the University of New Mexico Police Department soon after that. He moved to the Rio Rancho Police Department two years later.

Summary: On August 27, 2007, along with about 70 officers from the Albuquerque Police Department, the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, and New Mexico State Police, Rio Rancho Police Officer Germaine Casey, a motorcycle officer, was assigned to a motorcade which escorted United States President George W. Bush from the Albuquerque Sunport to a lunch gathering in the North Valley, and then back to Air Force One. While on the return leg of the trip, after reaching the Sunport, Officer Casey's motorcycle struck a curb and he was ejected from the vehicle and slammed into a tree. Fellow officers were able to render what help they could almost immediately. Officer Casey was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital where he died at approximately 3:30 p.m. Germaine Casey was the first Rio Rancho police officer to be killed in the line of duty.
