Bio: Officer Tonn was a U.S. Army veteran and had previously served as a firefighter and medic.
=================================================================
In 1990, the year prior to Kevin entering high school, his father, Will Tonn, attended the Sheriff's Academy and Kevin's uncle, Ed Tonn, was a Special Agent with California DOJ. There was no secret why Kevin became interested in law enforcement. When Kevin started high school in 1991, he joined the Roseville Police Explorers and thereby began his adventure of serving others.
At the age of 19, Kevin enlisted in the Army and became a Military Policeman. Subsequent to his military service, Kevin was a sales representative for two building-materials companies. During that time, Kevin met numerous people, one of whom was instrumental in Kevin becoming a Firefighter at Fort Drum, N.Y. Also, during Kevin's 8+ years in New York, he was a volunteer fire fighter, rising to the rank of Asst. Chief.
After approximately eight years in New York, Kevin moved back to California where he worked briefly as a Fire Prevention Officer for Sacramento. Kevin then bought & operated a letter & parcel shipping business. Due to a cooling economy and an abiding interest in law enforcement, Kevin sold his business, attended the Sacramento Sheriff's Academy, and eventually became a Galt Police Officer where he worked alongside his cousin, Jarrett Tonn. Kevin and Jarrett's dads are identical twins.
Jarrett and many others have said that Kevin believed that having a job of helping and protecting people was the highest calling that someone could have. Kevin had been on the force for 3 1/2 years. During this time, Kevin was promoted to the K-9 unit. K-9 officers Yaro & Kevin were a very dynamic duo. |
