Police Officer Shawn Schneider succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained 11 days earlier after responding to a domestic disturbance call on West Lyon Avenue at approximately 8:30 am.
After Officer Schneider and his partner arrived at the scene, the male subject was spotted outside of the home by Officer Schneider's partner, but then retreated back inside. He opened fire on Officer Schneider through a basement window, fatally wounding him.
Officer Schneider was transported to a local hospital where he remained until succumbing to his wounds.
