Bio: Sergeant LaRose was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

After receiving his degree in aeronautical engineering from Penn State, he spent several years working in New Jersey for the RCA Corp.

LaRose spent 11 years flying in the state police's Aviation patrol unit.

"He was a pilot of exceptional skill and a really nice guy. He was a very articulate, very intelligent man," said David Frey, marketing director with the airport.

An avid sports enthusiast, LaRose coached baseball, was involved in the elementary wrestling program, and sat on the board of his local youth football program.

LaRose was a dedicated sports fan and spent many years working with youth sports.

He had coached baseball, was involved in the elementary wrestling program, and sat on the board of the Muncy youth football program.

Jamie Brelsford, deputy chief of the Muncy Area Volunteer Fire Co., is a long time friend of the LaRose family. He described the commander as an "all-around great guy."

Friends remember LaRose as a man who was extraordinarily dedicated to his family and the betterment of the community around him.

Summary: Sergeant John LaRose was killed in a vehicle crash when his patrol car collided with another vehicle on Route 120 in Lumber Township, Pennsylvania, while traveling between Emporium and Muncy.

He was travelling on a curved portion of roadway when his vehicle lost traction due to wet conditions. The vehicle crossed the center line and struck another oncoming car. Sergeant LaRose was killed in the crash while the two occupants of the other vehicle were injured.
