Two First Nations officers from the Walpole Island police force were heading to the Petrolia OPP office to do administrative work at the time of the incident. The two vehicles, a car and an SUV, collided at an intersection north of Wallaceburg. Both vehicles then slid into a deep ditch. The car came to rest on its roof in 30 centimetres of water.
Constable Neudert died in the crash. He was a Six Nations member . He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters. Constable Neudert is the first Walpole police officer to die on duty.
