Fatal Incident Summary
Offender: No Info
Location: LA   USA   Fri. Sep. 27, 2013
Summary: Deputy Sheriff Dustin Hamilton was killed in a vehicle collision on Joor Road, between Mickens Road and Lovette Road, at approximately 7:10 pm.

He had just completed an overtime detail when his patrol car collided with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

Louisiana State Police stated that the crash occurred on Joor Road, (Louisiana Highway 946) between Mickens and Lovette Roads at 7:10 p.m. The details of the crash investigation show that Deputy Hamilton was northbound on Joor Road in a Chevrolet Impala patrol unit.

Deputy Hamilton apparently lost control of his patrol car. His cruiser crossed the centerline into the southbound traffic lanes. He overcorrected his skid and was struck on the driver’s side door by a 1999 Ford Explorer while still in the southbound lanes.

Deputy Hamilton sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, Gloria Burrell, 26, was transported to Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge where her condition was reported as serious.
