Bio: Richardson was a native of Howard County and attended Mineral Springs High School. He received an honorable discharged from the United States Air Force and moved to Lafayette County in 1983.

He began working for the Sheriff’s Office in 1995 and worked for five sheriffs – as a reserve deputy under John Kilgore, a jailor from 1996 to 1998, and then a patrol deputy under Sheriff Jimmy Alexander.

He became chief deputy in 2001 under Sheriff Sam Pierson. Under Sheriff Danny Ormand, Richardson returned to patrol deputy and was promoted to criminal investigator.

Summary: Chief Deputy Sheriff Pete Richardson was killed in a three car collision on Highway 82, west of Lewisville, shortly before 3:00 pm.

He was transporting homeless man to a shelter in Miller County when his department vehicle collided with another passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer.

Chief Deputy Richardson had served with the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office for 19 years.

Richardson is the third Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office lawman to die in the line of duty since 1926.
