Bio: Bryan was a 1997 graduate of Courtland High School where he was a member of the football team and Debate Club. He then went on to graduate from Randolph Macon College. Bryan was a former member of the Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
Deputy Berger had served the agency for just less than three years. He was hired as a civilian dispatcher and served in that capacity for two years. He always wanted to be a road patrol deputy, but had to wait for a department opening and the county budget for funding. He finally got his opportunity to realize his dream of becoming a sworn officer by attending the police academy.
Deputy Berger was sworn in and he was scheduled to attend the next session of the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy in Fredericksburg, Virginia. While he was waiting to attend the police academy, he was assigned to the Courts Division of the Sheriff Department as a court bailiff. He served in that capacity for 7 months. |
