Summary:	Police Officer Ricky Galvez was shot and killed from ambush at approximately 11:00 pm. Galvez had just returned to department headquarters from K-9 training after 11 p.m. and was sitting in a public parking lot in his personal vehicle not far from an entrance to the station. He had been in his car for a few minutes when two men approached. Officer Galvez was preparing to go off duty when he was approached by three suspects. One of the suspects - Abel Diaz,16 - fired into Officer Galvez's car, fatally wounding Officer Galvez in a botched robbery attempt. Another officer who was nearby heard the shots and pursued the subjects into the neighboring city of Montbello, where they bailed out of the their vehicle fled on foot, and escaped. The three suspects were apprehended the next day and charged with murder.
