Bio: Officer Sicknick was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Brian D. Sicknick, the youngest of three sons, was from South River, New Jersey. He graduated from Middlesex County Technical Vocational High School in 1997 and joined the New Jersey Air National Guard that year.
Sicknick was dispatched to Saudi Arabia in 1999 to support Operation Southern Watch. After the terrorist attacks of September 11th, he served in Kyrgyzstan in support of the Afghanistan war.
While in the United States, Sicknick served in the 108th aerial refueling wing at McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Joint Base in New Jersey.
He was honorably discharged in 2003, according to a spokeswoman for the New Jersey National Guard.
Sicknick 'wanted to be a cop all his life,' said Ken Sicknick. He 'served his country honorably' and made his family 'very proud', Sicknick said. 'Brian is a hero and that's what we want people to remember.' |
