Bio: Floyd H. Miles, Jr. was born and raised in Charles City County, a county which he truly loved. Upon graduating Charles City County High School, he enlisted in the United States Army.

Sgt. Miles returned to serve the Charles City County Sheriff’s Office proudly for 16 years. He was supervisor of Patrol and Animal Control. He had a true genuine passion not only for the residents of Charles City County, but all residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia. He constantly excelled in his field, most recently graduating from Animal Control School.

Summary: Sergeant Floyd Miles suffered a fatal heart attack while struggling with a subject inside an ambulance at the intersection of John Tyler Memorial Highway and Wayside Road.

Sergeant Miles was monitoring traffic at the intersection when a subject on a moped approached him and claimed people were trying to kill him. Sergeant Floyd requested an ambulance for the man after noticing there was blood on him. Medics were tending to the subject inside of the ambulance when the man suddenly attacked Sergeant Miles. During the ensuing struggle, Sergeant Miles collapsed.

He was transported to MCV/New Kent Medical Center where he passed away.
