| Summary: |
Deputy Marshal Floyd Wilson was shot and killed near Lenapah, Indian Territory (modern day Oklahoma).
The suspect was apprehended and convicted but was pardoned for Deputy Marshal Wilson's murder in 1903 for his assistance with talking a man into surrendering during an 1895 gunfight in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in which Guard Lawrence Keating, also of the Marshals Service, was murdered. After being pardoned the suspect continued to rob banks and was shot and killed during a bank robbery in Arkansas in 1921. A relative of the suspect also killed Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Officer Frank West in 1893.
Deputy Marshal Wilson had served with the agency for seven years, and had previously served with the Little Rock Police Department.
